Afrikaans op reis
Afrikaans op Reis is a handy language guide for the Dutch speaking tourist in South Africa.
For a Dutchman or a Fleming, one of the reasons why a visit to South Africa is appealing, is the fact that, at a distance of over 10,000 km from home, he would meet people who speak a language which, with a little effort, he could very well understand: Afrikaans.
Both languages have much in common, but are also very different. Sometimes similar words mean something else, which leads to misunderstanding. This booklet gives you the most common words and expressions that differ from the Dutch.
