It’s not only Afrikaans that celebrates 100 years this year, because South Africa’s proudly local grape variety Pinotage also has its centenary celebrations. This grape variety’s seeds were planted for the first time in 1925 after prof. Abraham Izak Perold successfully crossed pinot noir and cinsaut (hermitage).
Over Suzaan:
I am the editor of Versnit and Landbou in Die Burger. Versnit deals with food, drinks, and travel through the winelands, and Landbou focuses on news and events in the agricultural industry. These two supplements share insightful news and snippets about the respective industries with our readers and contribute to the newspaper’s revenue through focuses and advertisements.
Apart from my two supplements, I am also the coordinator of the Die Burger Kinderfonds (our charity project) and work annually on a project where we bring together a group of the next year’s grade 12 youth leaders and offer them a conference that equips them with the necessary knowledge to train them as future leaders of the country.
I have a passion for wine and am currently completing my diploma studies in wine tasting. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking, trying new recipes, and spending time outdoors with my dog.
